Filipina-American singer, model, and beauty queen Angeli Chaves is making waves with her upcoming debut EP, a project produced by Grammy-nominated Luigie Gonzalez that she describes on her website as “cosmic and pop-forward.” Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Chaves is gaining attention not just for her vocals, but also for her presence and passion. Reflecting on her Filipino-American roots, Angeli said, “Growing up, it felt a little different navigating both cultures compared to the rest of them. But I’ve come to embrace that space. It’s made me who I am, and I carry both parts of my identity with love and pride.” This authenticity shines through in her music and messaging. Chaves’ songs cover “all kinds of love, for yourself, for someone else, for your soulmate. It’s sassy, sweet, fiery, and fun,” she expressed. “Every track stands on its own, but together they tell a full story.”
Angeli believes in the power of art beyond entertainment, and this perspective informs everything she does. Outside of music, Chaves has used her platform for advocacy. In 2024, she was crowned Miss World America Stardust and won the People’s Choice Award, but she immediately donated her prize to Gawad Kalinga for typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines. She credits her mother as a guiding force: “My mom’s compassion, strength, and faith guide everything I do.” And for inspiration, Chaves looks to fellow Filipina icon Catriona Gray, noting, “I love how she carries herself. She’s confident, articulate, and uses her voice for something bigger. Seeing someone represent the Philippines with so much pride and purpose motivates me to do the same in my way.”
Recently, Chaves celebrated a major milestone with her official EP listening party, held on July 11 at Boran Thai Cuisine on Ruston Way Waterfront in Tacoma. The intimate event brought together family, friends, and supporters for a night filled with music and laughter. Guests enjoyed a full preview of the EP, complete with visuals, interactive games, and behind-the-scenes stories for each track. “As soon as the music started playing, everyone was up and dancing. The energy in the room was so full of love, fun, and support. I’ll never forget it,” Chaves shared.

The evening was made possible by an incredible team of sponsors, including May Deza Dominguez, Cora Cruspero, Melanie Esclamado, Beth Kintanar, Marinette Magbual, Margie Ornada, Aggie Rogers, Maria Scanlan, Lou Vargas & Vina Vanessa Vogt, and others. One of Chaves’ top sponsors was Charm & Paolo, an apparel brand founded by Mary Charmaine Chavez and Paolo Francisco. Charm & Paolo is known for producing long-lasting pieces in limited runs, keeping products out of landfills and reducing waste. Chaves also extended appreciation to sponsor Dr. Mila Sprouse, a nationally-recognized nurse executive and proud Filipina businesswoman. Dr. Sprouse’s career path shows what is possible when determination meets opportunity, and her upcoming memoir, From Tomatoes to the Boardroom: The Courageous Rise of a Nurse Executive, reflects her personal upbringing and commitment to empowering others. The support of these sponsors made Chaves’ listening party possible. Additionally, Angeli gave special thanks to her Tita Elenita Nigro for preparing a selection of delicious desserts that guests raved about, and to the amazing Boran team – Owner Bo, their main server Phitcha, and Beasley, who provided technical and audio support. She also acknowledged event photographer Brian Tran for capturing the magic of the night in stunning detail.
Coming soon, Chaves will headline at Fil-Am Fashion Week 2025’s main show on August 9, where she is set to perform her track “Unserious” live for the very first time. Additionally, later this month, production begins on the official music video for her song “Luxurious,” with even more performances, appearances, and exciting announcements scheduled for the fall. Yet despite her busy schedule, Chaves knows the importance of balance. “Rest, boundaries, and a lot of iced lavender lattes and matchas help,” she laughed.
For Angeli, every lyric and performance is an opportunity for her to connect with people, uplift audiences, and celebrate her culture. “I just want to keep doing what I love,” Chaves said. “Making music that means something, representing where I come from, and helping others along the way.” With her debut EP on the horizon, Angeli Chaves is not just chasing stardom – she is defining it on her own terms. And she is ready to leave an unforgettable mark on the global music scene.
